135 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Nigeria

On Thursday, March 18, Nigeria recorded 135 new cases of COVID-19, which brings the number of infections in the country to 161,409.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on Thursday night via its official Twitter handle.

The new infections were recorded in 16 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos recorded 41 new cases, the highest for the day followed by Imo with 20 new cases.

Other states with new cases include Ogun-14, FCT-10, Kebbi -11, Rivers -10, Akwa Ibom-8, Plateau-4, Ebonyi-3, Kaduna-3, Kano-3, Osun-3, Oyo-2, Ekiti-1, Gombe-1, and Nasarawa-1.

The health agency said that the country’s recoveries from COVID-19 were now outpacing newly reported cases, as 426 people were discharged in the last 24 hours.

The NCDC said that the country’s active cases stood at 12,984 in the last 24 hours.
