2019 Elections: Voters Lament Mix-Up on Voter Register

Some imminent voters at Ward 3 Unit 2 inside State Junior Grammar School, Eric Moore, Surulere region of Lagos State have challenged the mistake on the voter register with the Independent National Electoral Commission.

No less than five qualified voters has lamented that their names and photos were found on the voter register glued at the unit however they couldn’t cast a ballot in light of the fact that distinctive names were appeared on the voter register at the purpose of accreditation.

A victim, Mr Adeleke Awoniyi, said he was shocked that he was turned back on the grounds that the name that surfaced on the card reader was a female voter’s name however with his photo.

He said, “I was not allowed to vote. I voted here in 2015 and there was no problem. But today, I saw my name and photo in the voter register pasted on the walls but a female voter’s name came up as mine during accreditation.

“This is strange and it is painful. I have been denied the opportunity to vote but I will wait and see their boss.”

Another victim, Mrs Eno Ajayu additionally said her name showed up effectively in the glued voter register yet a male name not quite the same as hers was seen amid accreditation.

She said, “I think they have to rectify the error. I have been voting here before now. Why should things be different this time? This is annoying and something must be done about it.
