Overall Objective

  • The X-Ray Technician will work on the NGA-T-LSMOH grant to support Radiographers and the institutionalization of quality service management systems across all GF supported sites.
  • The main role of the X-Ray Technician is to support the project radiographers in the X-Ray imaging of people/patients screened through the process of radiographic imaging as part of the key strategies for tuberculosis screening and diagnosis on the State Tuberculosis program.
  • The X-Ray Technician would possess sound expertise in handling and maintaining the X-Ray machines and other related instruments. Other roles would include interviewing the patients, collecting the surveyed patient-level data and documenting it in the system.
  • The Officer would also be required to position the patients correctly and ensure that there are no hazards to patients and staff while radiologic imaging is carried out by the project radiographers. For this purpose, he/she will give prior information to the patients, comfort and prepare them for the imaging procedure.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support diagnostic digital chest x-ray imaging on the mobile x-ray vans.
  • Liaise with the Site supervisor and field team on site to ensure smooth workflow and maximize patient throughout.
  • Ensure that all adequate safety measures are taken to avoid any undue exposure to radiation.
  • Ensure proper handling and use of x-ray equipment, and related software, including onsite daily maintenance.
  • Ensure all individuals (coming in for an x-ray) are managed, prepared, and guided adequately on the radiological procedure.
  • Ensure that data (such as patient IDs, demographics, CAD scores etc) are correctly entered into the system.
  • Ensure that there is no mishandling of equipment and accessories and that all start up and shut down protocols are followed.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of National Diploma in Medical Imaging Technology and other closely related disciplines.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity with the use of MS Excel.
  • Attention to details.
  • Flexibility across a range of field and office related tasks
  • Good attitude, self-motivated and ability to work well individually as well as in a team.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience with the use of digital X-ray equipment. Further experience with field screening programs would be an added advantage.
  • Duly licensed (with current annual practicing license) by the appropriate council / regulatory authority according to the state laws
  • Accuracy and efficiency are prime qualities demanded by this profile. Besides, the applicants are expected to hold good knowledge about the medical terminologies.
