Areas of Responsibility:

Legal & Contracts:

  • Researching and advising on local and international law issues and relevant legislation affecting the agencies in Nigeria.
  • Managing litigation portfolio and supervision of external legal counsel and other professional advisers as necessary and managing the associated costs.
  • Using systems and processes to ensure efficiency in the administration of the legal function
  • Provision of monthly and quarterly litigation reports to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Drafting and reviewing commercial documents and advising on commercial transactions.
  • Conducting knowledge sharing sessions in the organization

Corporate Affairs

  • Proactive management on corporate governance and statutory compliance administration.
  • External stakeholder management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Cost Leadership and optimization.
  • Best practice sharing and training.
  • Timely resolution of claim and recoveries.
  • Efficient review of contracts and due diligence
  • Efficient coordination of Board meeting & AGM and support in preparation of Board files.

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Accredited legal qualification with minimum of 5 years’ experience in handling legal matters.
  • Experience in the Maritime sector or in related industry would be an advantage.
  • Kowledge of Nigerian law & practice.
  • Incumbent must have a high level of analytical skills & must have complete IT skills as required in an office environment.
