Naira scarcity: NLC postpone proposed nationwide strike by two weeks

by Alice Babalola

The Nigeria Labour Congress has postponed its strike that was set to start tomorrow due to the nation’s severe Naira scarcity.

The pressure group had already announced that starting tomorrow (Wednesday), it would go on an indefinite strike, adding that it would affect all branches of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

At the National Executive Council meeting’s conclusion on Wednesday, the strike’s suspension was announced.

The Nigeria Labour Congress has suspended its strike scheduled to commence tomorrow over the Naira scarcity rocking the nation.

However, the group gave CBN additional two weeks to ensure Naira notes circulate across the country.

NLC had issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to end the petrol and cash scarcity being experienced in the country.

The national president of the union, Joe Ajaero, said the decision to picket the CBN branches became necessary as the federal government and the CBN had failed to show any commitment to addressing the situation.
