Main Purpose
- Prepare credit control reports, undertake debt reconciliation and debt recovery; he/she will be the link person between the company and the tax consultants for various tax matters as well as supervise tax team
Duties and Responsibilities
Credit Control:
- Taking a proactive role in managing and collecting debts of company debtors
- Creating procedures and policies that ensure timely payments while maintaining a high level of customer retention
- Setting up of terms and conditions of credit
- Ensuring timely payment of debts
- Following up payments as needed
- Liaising with customers, as well as internal personnel including the sales team
- Monitoring debtor balances to ensure a reduction in debtors
- Supervise and monitor the system (Navision) to capture credit sales and payments by all Motor vehicle and Aftersales credit customers.
- Supervise and reconcile all motor vehicle & Aftersales customers’ receivables with actual trade debts.
- Initiate adjustments journals for wrong/incomplete transactions observed during reconciliation.
- Be actively involved in trade debts recovery.
- Prepare credit customers’ statement of account.
Tax Administration:
- Monitor and report WHT source deductions to enhance the prompt collection of tax receipts from motor vehicles & Aftersales customers.
- Manage FIRS and LIRS income tax returns preparation as well as other tax returns as required
- Calculation of the monthly/quarterly/annual FIRS/LIRS tax provision
- Defense of tax audits
- Tax technical research as required
- Support internal and external tax planning initiatives
- Review transactional data to identify tax issues and determine proper tax treatment
- Documentation of tax processes and organization of tax information
- Coordinate the information needed for engagements with external tax advisors
- Interface with other areas of the organization and provide guidance as required
- Identify tax planning opportunities/initiatives
- WHT Credit notes submitted by specified due date
The Person
- B.Sc (Accounting / Economics or other related fields).
- Must be ACA (ICAN) Certified.
- Minimum of Seven (7) years’ work experience – spanning Credit Control and Tax Administration related functions in a corporate environment.
- Knowledge on the usage of accounting software/ERP.
- Ability to use Microsoft Dynamic (Navision) is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge on the usage of Microsoft Excel.
