President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his desire to see a greater number of Nigerian youths emulate the achievements of Chef Hilda Bassey Effiong, known as Hilda Baci.

Buhari commended Hilda for breaking the world record for the longest hours of cooking, earning her a place in the Guinness Book of Records and bringing global attention to Nigeria.

The President applauded the 27-year-old Chef for transforming her talent and passion into a successful career, which has had a positive impact on the economy through her restaurant in Lagos.

He also recognized her efforts in training other aspiring entrepreneurs, highlighting her resilience, perseverance, and consistency in the culinary field.

Femi Adesina, who issued the statement on behalf of the President, highlighted Hilda’s achievements at the Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021, where she impressed judges with her mouth-watering dishes, winning the top prize and settling the long-standing rivalry with Ghana over which country cooks better jollof rice.

President Buhari believes that Hilda Baci’s determination and ambition have shed light on the unique aspects of Nigerian cuisine, elevating her to the status of a cultural icon with significant tourism potential.

He expressed his hope that more young people would be inspired to follow in her footsteps.

The President expressed gratitude to the sponsors of the Hilda Baci Cook-a-thon, as well as government officials, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, celebrities from the thriving music and movie industry, and the chef’s fans for their unwavering support, which has brought honor to the country.

President Buhari extended his best wishes to Hilda Baci for continued success in her career.
