The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, has cautioned the prospective corps members of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream One against violating the rules and regulations of the scheme.

He emphasized that failure to adhere to these regulations would result in appropriate sanctions.

In a nationwide address to the newly initiated corps members during their orientation exercise, General Ahmed urged them to familiarize themselves with the NYSC Act and the NYSC Bye-Laws to ensure a successful service year.

The Director General specifically warned against engaging in vices such as cultism and reminded them that violating the scheme’s dress code would also attract penalties as stipulated in the NYSC Act.

He stressed the importance of adhering to the official dress code and dressing appropriately for each occasion.

Furthermore, General Ahmed encouraged the corps members to make the most of the four cardinal programs of the NYSC: Orientation, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service, and Passing out/Winding up activities.

He urged them to actively participate in all camp activities, as they are designed to equip them for the tasks ahead and contribute to national development.

The Director General also emphasized the need for the corps members to uphold a sense of patriotism throughout the Orientation Course and serve as responsible role models throughout their service year.

The Orientation Course provides opportunities for leadership coaching, paramilitary drills, physical training, and awareness on current national issues, among other activities, enabling the corps members to realize their potential and understand the objectives and programs of the NYSC.
