In a bid to improve the responsiveness of the police force during emergencies, Acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has unveiled a groundbreaking smart policing initiative.

The newly introduced ‘Police-VGS Quick Emergency Reporting and Response System (QERRS)’ is set to revolutionize the way police personnel handle emergency situations.

The unveiling of the Police-VGS QERRS application took place on Tuesday in Abuja. This cutting-edge system has been carefully designed to ensure rapid response and appropriate referrals in various emergency scenarios, such as accidents, natural disasters, medical emergencies, criminal incidents, and intelligence sharing.

Through the simple act of swiping a button on a phone, individuals can trigger emergency notifications, sending them directly to a dedicated team of highly trained police operatives.

These operatives will promptly initiate a well-coordinated and live response, ensuring a timely and efficient resolution to the crisis at hand.

The Acting IGP firmly believes that this innovative initiative will have a significant impact in saving lives, combating crimes, and bolstering the security of communities.

The Police-VGS QERRS system acts as a valuable addition to the previously launched C4i-NPF Rescue Me App, further underscoring the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to the public’s safety and well-being.

The IGP has called upon the public to embrace and utilize this cutting-edge technology, as its successful implementation relies on widespread adoption and collaboration between the police and the community.

With the introduction of this smart policing initiative, the Nigeria Police Force takes a significant step forward in enhancing emergency response and ensuring the protection of its citizens.
