MAMI Raised Role Models for National Development

As part of efforts aimed at gearing young adults towards self-development and patriotism, Make A Move Initiative, MAMI, equipped youths with adequate knowledge on becoming role models to serve as nation builders.

During the second edition of her annual conference held recently Omole phase 1, Ojodu, the Convener, Alice Ajakaye Babalola, stated that the purpose of the symposium is to guide youths towards being worthy role models and not just choosing one.

The conference which was themed “Raising Role Models” was graced by the Presence of notable public speakers and prominent personalities; among whom are Ify Ubah, Model and Nollywood actress; Abraham Owoseni, Founder and C.E.O, Young Breed; Natasha Ibori, Co-founder, The Repair Nest and Coach Rhalee, founder, Coach Rhalee Academy, Mibi Ojewale; Founder, Adlia Foundation, Winny Uwagbale; Founder, Nigeria Volunteers Award, Sunday Abegunde; Speaking Pen, Joseph Adeosun;  Founder, The Joseph Adeosun .

During an exclusive interview with pressmen at the event, Abraham Owoseni, who spoke on “Role Models as Nation Builders”, stated that “Nigeria needs role models to get past tribalism and participate in political affairs”.

Also speaking on the topic, Coach Rhalee added that “The moral decadence (Teen drug abuse, Pedophilia) among Nigerian youths is traceable to the fact that they do not recognize who to make role models”

Explaining further, Mibi Ojewale, a panelist at the conference, stated that youths can only become good role models if they have a change of mindset.

In her words, “You cannot convince someone that they’re choosing the wrong role model when they see nothing wrong with it. They need a change of mindset first”.

Further contributing to the topic, other panelists at the event aired their view independently. Some of whom are;

Winny Uwagbale noted that, “In picking a role model, make sure they are Goal-driven”

Joseph Adeosun in his words commented, “Nation Building is about affecting lives individually”

Sunday Abegunde- “Work towards being a change”

In her remarks, the convener urged youths to embrace the art of volunteering, adding that Leaders are also followers.
