The newly sworn-in Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mr Bolaji Robert, alongside the Special Adviser on Rural Development, Dr Yekini Agbaje, has reiterated his readiness to work towards extending the dividends of democracy to all the nooks and crannies of the state in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
This is as the commissioner restates the commitment of the Sanwo-Olu-led government to making Lagos a livable city for all residents.
Addressing the press on Monday at the conference room of the ministry, Robert, who is the immediate-past Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Local Government and Community Affairs, said he was ready to hit the ground running as directed by Sanwo-Olu.
“Mr Governor has directed us to hit the ground running to ensure that every part of the state is livable, especially as we concentrate efforts towards making Lagos a 21st Century economy,” he added.
He noted that the ministry is saddled with the responsibilities of initiating, formulating, executing, monitoring, and evaluating policies relating to local government administration in all the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas of the state, adding that the ministry is a “mini-Lagos”.
Similarly, Agbaje, on his part, explained that restoring the Office of Rural Development to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Rural Development is a pointer to the fact that the governor is interested in the development of the grassroots communities across the state.
He, therefore, called on community leaders, Community Development Associations and other stakeholders to key into the programmes of the administration of Sanwo-Olu geared towards the fulfilment of the collective aspiration of Lagosians who seek economically viable communities across the state.
