Position Summary
The Component Lead – Broker will lead the brokering of financial instruments that aim at long term investments in soil fertility management. (S)he will be posted in one of the four focus countries.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing technical leadership regarding the implementation of financial services, financial mechanisms, and interactions with financial institutions to incentivize the adoption of sustainable soil management practices;
- Work with the private sector to determine how the program can facilitate investment in long-term, multi-facetted productivity improvements and implement chosen solutions;
- Involve and create financial opportunities for women (e.g., farmer groups, service providers);
- Coordinate with the team to ensure that the implemented financial solutions sustain the gains obtained in the other intervention areas;
- Analyze and assess risks of potential financial solutions.
Reporting and Work Relationships
The Component Lead – Broker is supervised by and reports to the Deputy Program Director – Technical. (S)he works in close collaboration with project colleagues, other IFDC staff and colleagues from other project consortium members.
Required Experience
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, agriculture, or another related field
- Minimum 6 years of experience in managing financial components of complex, multi-year donor-funded programs
- Knowledge of financial mechanisms such as climate funding and guarantee funds
- Familiarity with gender sensitive finance
- Experience with the Dutch Ministry and Embassies of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
- Highly organized and able to multi-task and prioritize tasks
- Demonstrated experience managing and facilitating a team
- Excelled interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in multicultural, multilingual environments
- Fluency in speaking and writing English and French
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the West African region
