Job Description
- The Line Haul Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective management of line haul operations, ensuring optimal driver performance, truck tracking, shipment and movement monitoring, compliance with pickup and delivery standard operating procedures (SOPs), diesel management, and truck documentation monitoring.
- The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide leadership to line haul drivers, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Schedule and coordinate driver shift, routes, and assignments.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Address and resolve driver-related issues and concerns promptly.
- Utilize GPS and other tracking systems to monitor the real-time location and status of trucks.
- Ensure trucks are operating within designated routes and schedules.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of shipments to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Monitor the movement of shipments from pickup to delivery, ensuring timely and safe transport.
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve any issues related to shipment delays or discrepancies.
- Ensure all pickup and delivery operations are conducted in accordance with established SOPs.
- Train drivers and staff on SOPs and update procedures as needed.
- Monitor fuel consumption and ensure efficient use of diesel resources.
- Implement strategies to reduce fuel costs and improve fuel efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of all truck-related documentation, including registration, maintenance, and inspection reports.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to truck operations.
- Schedule and track regular maintenance and inspections to ensure trucks are in optimal condition.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation or logistics, with a focus on line haul operations or related function.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficient in using transportation management systems (TMS) and GPS tracking software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
