Akinwunmi Adesina sworn in for the second term as AfDB president

Akinwumi Adesina has been sworn in for a second term in office as the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The swearing-in ceremony took place today September 1 at the AfDB headquarters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, in an event that was broadcast virtually.

Adesina was re-elected into office as president of the bank on August 27, 2020. He was first elected as President of the bank in May 2015; being the first Nigerian to occupy the position.

The oath of office was administered by Kenneth Ofori-Attah, Ghana’s finance minister and chair of the AfDB board of governors.
