APC Chieftain Killed In Imo

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, identified as Ifeanyi Ozoemena, has been killed in Ngor Okpala local council area of Imo State, by unknown gunmen, said to have operated in a sports utility vehicle, SUV.

It reported that the deceased was the APC chairman of Logara/Umuohiagu Ward and was killed Tuesday night by suspected political thugs.

The Vice chairman of Logara Development Union, LDU, Chief Martin Opara confirmed the incident, saying that “the community is shocked and has never witnessed this type of political killing before.”

Opara pleaded with the security agencies to investigate and expose Ozoemena’s killers without any delay.

He said that the Eze-in-Council, in conjunction with the community’s town union had met and sent a delegation to Divisional Police Officer, DPO, demanding that the suspect behind the murder should be arrested immediately.

“This killing is strange to our community. We have met with the Eze-in-Council and have sent a delegation to the DPO requesting that the killers be arrested immediately,” he said.

When contacted, the State Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Dasuki Galadanchi confirmed the killing, adding that the police had evacuated the corpse.

Galadanchi noted, “the gunmen who killed the APC chieftain operated in an SUV jeep, stressing that “investigation is on.

“We have visited the crime scene and we have evacuated the corpse. We have done the preliminary investigations, including taking of photographs.”
