Assistant Director of Cultural Institution (F/H) at Alliance Francaise de Lagos

Synthetic description of the position

Under the authority of the Conseiller de co-operation et d’action culturelle (COCAC) and under the supervision of the director of the’Alliance francaise (AF) de Lagos :

  • you will ensure the daily management of the courses of the’ establishment (two locations) ;
  • you will manage the’establishment jointly with the Director ;
  • you will ensure to maintain the’image d’ pedagogical expertise of the French’Alliance, with the public, Nigerian institutions and partner schools ;
  • you will be in charge of the Central Management of DELF-DALF exams for Nigeria ;
  • you will be in charge of the National Coordination of the network of French Alliances in Nigeria in pairs with the’Attached Cooperation For the French (ACPF).

Main activities

  • L’AF Lagos is located in a recent cultural center (2019), very well equipped (9 classrooms, auditorium with 120 seats, exhibition room, restaurant, library, amphitheater, 4 passage rooms, etc, etc). It retains an annex, located in Ikeja, the historic center of the city of Lagos.
  • Under the authority of COCAC and the responsibility of the Director of AF :
  • Implement the priorities defined by the EEAS, the Embassy and the Board of Directors (CA) ;

Jointly with the Director :

  • Participate in the definition and implementation of the strategy of the establishment in accordance with the priorities of action of the post in the fields of culture, cooperation or development ;
  • Participate in the development of the budget, the management of staff and the implementation of analytical tools, and,follow-up /evaluation in relation to management and the Board ;
  • Assure the interim management of the establishment.

Pedagogy :

  • Ensure the proper functioning of the department of courses (+/2000 registrations per year) and exams (+/2000 candidates) on 2 sites ;
  • Update the’offer of intramural courses, communication and marketing of courses ;
  • Manage a team of teachers (commitments, schedule, remuneration, class observations and reports, training) ;
  • Update the internal continuing education plan for the’team of teachers ;
  • Conquer and retain new audiences ;
  • Prospecting French, Nigerian and foreign third-party companies likely to undergo training ;
  • Strengthen existing partnerships with Nigerian institutions (Universities, universities,Ministry of’Education of the’State of Lagos), creating new ;
  • Supervise and validate the activities of the pedagogical mission manager (VI) (supervision of certification sessions, follow-up of partner institutions, implementation of the training plan and dedicated’ events).

Certifications :

  • Ensure DELF-DALF Central Management for the network of 12 Centres in Nigeria (opening of annual sessions, organization of the calendar, link with FEI, follow-up and organization of requests for’authorizations of’examiners-correctors, etc, reception of subjects, etc.) ;
  • Promote all certifications (TEF, TCF, DELF-DALF) in connection with the person in charge of the examinations ;
  • Prepare and submit regular activity reports.
  • National coordination of the AFs network in pairs with’ACPF :Organize the Day of French Alliances in Nigeria and monthly meetings ;
  • Maintain a constant link with the Directors of the AFs ;
  • Manage network projects ;
  • Coordinate and verify the annual questionnaires of the FAs for the French Alliances Foundation (FAF) ;
  • Assure field missions to AFs ;
  • be the’interface between the AF network and the FAF ;
  • Promote the network of AFs to institutions and companies present in Nigeria ;
  • Ensure the budgetary follow-up of the Coordination of the AFs network.Assure field missions to AFs ;

Diplomas or professional experience recommended to perform the duties

  • Master 2 or equivalent level.
  • Positive experience in the network of French Alliances ;
  • Experience in leading a language centre, a cultural establishment ;
  • Expertise in FLE/FOS/TICE, in training of trainers ;
  • Very good knowledge of networks in the academic, educational and cultural fields.
  • Knowledge or mastery of a local language would be an asset, knowledge of the region as well.
