In regards to the ongoing ASSU strike, the federal government and academic staff union are expected to hold another meeting Today as part of the attempt to resolve the issues that led to the strike in public universities.
ASUU President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, said a conclusion was reached at the end of the union’s last meeting with the Ministry of Labour and Employment to meet today and continue deliberations.
He explained that, ASUU leaders at the end of the meeting agreed to meet with their members to discuss the Federal Government’s new position on the union’s demands before taking a position on the FG’s offers.
The statement revealed, “Furtherance to efforts at resolving the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, is scheduled to hold a conciliatory meeting with the executive of ASUU.”
