Background Verification Supervisor at Transport Services Limited

Role Description

  • This is a full-time, on-site role located in Lagos, Nigeria for the position of Background Verification Supervisor.
  • The successful applicant will be responsible for verifying the background and credentials of potential employees, contractors, and vendors as well as monitoring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assign the BVO tasks and monitor their work to assure the accuracy, integrity and effectiveness of their work.
  • Monitor incoming records by workstream and assess closure and completion rates.
  • Complete analyses and determine preliminary background review and determine to end or proceed with the background verification.
  • Manage the final background review process for applicants by checking the completed BGC reports for accuracy and reliability and endorse them for the approval of the manager
  • Track and update all files and share with legal, Driver Administration, HRAC, departments.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate closure of files and reporting the decisions to interested parties.
  • Create status reports on work completed and time taken by Background Check Officers and use this information to help the unit optimize processes and performance.
  • Respond to escalated phone and email inquiries.
  • Communicate final determination/clearance to interested parties via TSL’s shared work tools like PowerApps.
  • Update final status in department spreadsheetsRemain abreast of updates to Federal and State rules and regulations.
  • Communicate with external partners and other departments on behalf of the Unit head
  • Management the pipeline of background checksUpdate applicant files/spreadsheets based on decisions made by the Background Check Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, social sciences, criminology, psychology, investigations, financial accounting and audit, etc
  • Experience in background verification, compliance, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations surrounding background check processes and compliance requirements
  • Ability to conduct interviews, investigate claims, and obtain information from various sources.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and prioritize work effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to liaise with different stakeholders including senior management and government agencies.
