Blessing Oborududu wins Nigeria’s second medal at Tokyo Olympics

Nigeria has gotten its second medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics after Blessing Oborodudu settled for silver after losing to the USA’s Tamyra Marianna Stock Mensah in the final.

Oborududu suffered a 1-4 loss to Tamyra in the final of Tokyo Olympic women’s wrestling on Tuesday afternoon, August 3, but still went home with a silver medal.

Prior to the final, she defeated Mongolia’s Battsetseg Soronzonbold to qualify for the clash of the women’s 68kg by 7-2.

This comes just after her fellow counterpart Ese Brume, who specializes in the long jump, claimed a bronze medal after finishing third in the women’s long jump event in the early hours of Tuesday, August 3.

Brume leaped 6.97 metres with her very first jump to claim bronze behind second-placed Brittany Reece of the United States and gold medallist Malaika Mihambo of Germany.
