Breaking: Court gives DSS 24 hours ultimatum to release Sowere, Bakare

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday gave the Department of State Service 24 hours ultimatum to release the Convener of RevolutionNow Movement, Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu also ordered that Sowore’s co-accused, Olawale Bakare be released within 24 hours.

The judge further ordered the secret police to pay the sum of N100, 000 to Sowore for refusing to release him on bail despite two court orders to that effect.

She ordered that the cost must be paid before the next hearing which is Friday.

Justice Ojukwu consequently adjourned the trial of the case brought against them by the Nigerian Government till December 6 for continuation.

But despite Thursday’s court order for the release of the defendants, operatives of the DSS returned them to custody at the end of the proceedings.
