BREAKING: Explosions rock Maiduguri on Election Day

Few hours before the opening of polls in presidential and parliamentary elections, multiple explosions were heard in the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri on Saturday morning, February 23.

Report says the explosion started at about 6:00 am.

About eight explosions were said to have been heard. The explosion happened in the area of Molai, Dambo’a road, Bulumkutu and Njimtilo road axis.

It was also reported that the explosion and gunfire were also heard from other part of Maiduguri city.

There was no immediate indication of the cause but the city has been repeatedly attacked by Boko Haram Islamists.
