The Independent National Electoral Commission has awarded certificates of return to President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on completing the electoral act.
This took place on Wednesday at the International Conference Center, Abuja, venue of the result collation for the 2019 presidential elections.
Osinbajo was first to collect his certificate of return after which President Buhari took his turn. Both men were accompanied by their wives, Dolapo and Aisha respectively.
The INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made the presentation, he said: “Ladies and gentlemen, in fulfillment of the electoral act which says that a certificate of return shall be issued not less than seven days to the declaration of the winner, I hereby announce that the certificate of return will be issued to the President-elect and Vice President-elect at 2pm today in this very hall.”
