Breaking: Liverpool’s Naby Keita ruled out of Africa Cup of Nations

Naby Keita, the Guinea midfielder was unfortunately taken off the field in Liverpool’s 3-0 loss to the Catalan giants, Barcelona and will be benched for two months.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager has revealed that Naby Keita sustained a high-grade adductor injury and will be out for around 60 days and as a result, would not play in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Keita was taken off the field within the first 45 minutes of Liverpool’s 3-0 loss to Barcelona at Camp Nou in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final battle.

Keita, the midfielder sustained a knock after being hauled down by Ivan Rakitic. However, he didn’t stop playing as he continued to play before it got worse and he eventually had to be taken off the field.

Klopp told the press, “It was really unlucky. Bad news. High-grade adductor injury. The tendon is ruptured. Will keep him out for at least 2 months.

“Bad news for us and for Guinea with the Africa Cup of Nations coming up. Not nice.”
