Buhari Raises Alarm over Vote Buying

President Muhammadu Buhari has raised an alarm over vote buying in the upcoming presidential election.

In a statement signed by the President on Sunday, said the corrupt people who looted the nation’s treasury are making plans of using the resources in their disposal for vote buying.

He said, by way of their looting, the corrupt have powerful resources at their disposal. And they will use them. For when you fight corruption, you can be sure it will fight back.

President Buhari, citing a report by the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) called on Nigerians to participate massively in the forthcoming presidential election.

“It even threatens to undermine February’s poll and – by extension – our democracy.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has raised concerns over laundered money being funneled into vote buying”, President Buhari said.

The 2019 general election starts on the 16th of February with the presidential and National Assembly elections, while the governorship and Houses of Assembly elections will take place on the 2nd of March.
