Cardoso assumes office as CBN Governor

Dr. Olayemi Cardoso has officially taken on the role of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

This announcement was made in a statement released today by Dr. Isa Abdulmumin, the Director of Corporate Communication at the apex bank.

Dr. Cardoso will serve as the Acting Governor, pending confirmation of his nomination by the National Assembly.

This development follows the resignation of Mr. Godwin Emefiele, who previously held the position of CBN Governor.

Additionally, Mr. Folashodun Shonubi, who served as Acting CBN Governor following Mr. Emefiele’s suspension, has also tendered his resignation, along with all Deputy Governors of the CBN.

These changes mark a significant transition in the leadership of the CBN.
