Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, led by Hon. Segun Odunmbaku has commissioned the Obokun Police Post to enhance community safety.

The Facility, commissioned by AIG Fayoade Adegoke, aims to strengthen law enforcement presence, deter crime, and offer support to residents in need.

At the commissioning, Hon. Odunmbaku emphasized the importance of the new post in promoting security and urged residents to collaborate with the Police to build a safer community.

He highlighted his administration’s efforts, including the donation of patrol vehicles and the renovation of the Williams Police Post at Okeira.

Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG) Fayoade Adegoke, praised Odunmbaku’s commitment to security, calling him the “People’s Chairman”.

The DPO of Ojodu Police Station, CSP Elizabeth Opadola, commended the initiative, stating that the project would boost economic and social stability in the area as a crucial part of Ojodu LCDA’s ongoing efforts to ensure peace and security.

A 16-year old girl, Justina Ogwogwu, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for indecent assault on a 3-year old boy by sucking his private part in order to satisfy her sexual desires.

Report has it that the incident happened on 17th August, 2024, at Aina Street, Ojodu area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect assaulted the boy by kissing, sucking his penis and lying on him before she was caught by the boy’s parents.

The matter was reported to the Police at Ojodu Division. The girl was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct.

After interrogation, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

Part of the charges read:
COUNT I: That you, Justina Ogogwu ‘F’ on the 17th of August, 2024 at about 12:05hrs at No. 45, Aina Street, Ojodu, Lagos in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully and indecently assault the three-year old boy by kissing and sucking his private organ and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 135 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

COUNT II: That you, Justina Ogogwu ‘F’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did sexually touch the boy by handling his penis, licking his penis, kissing him and lying down on his body and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.

However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Juvenile Remand centre pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.

A Lagos Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja on Monday sentenced a 32-year-old student, Essien Aniedi-Bassey, to 21 years imprisonment for attempting to sexually assault a 10-year-old girl, (name withheld).

Justice Abiola Soladoye sentenced Aniedi-Bassey to 21 years jail term after he pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child.

“The combined term of the 21 years imprisonment shall begin from March 23, 2018,” the judge held.

The State Counsel, Ms Abimbola Abolade, had presented two witnesses, the survivor and an Investigative Police Officer (IPO) before the convict opted for a plea bargain agreement.

Abolade had told the court that the convict committed the offence sometimes in August 2017 at Araromi Valley Estate in Ojodu, Lagos.

She submitted that the convict attempted to defile a minor.

The prosecution also told the court that the convict treated the minor indecently by touching her breasts.

According to the prosecution, the offence contravenes Sections 135 and 262 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, (2015).

The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, today hosted the new Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ojodu Police Station, CSP Opadola Elizabeth.

The purpose of the meeting was to formally welcome the DPO to the community and discuss ways to enhance security in the area.

During the meeting, the Council Chairman emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Police and the Local Government in ensuring the safety and security of residents.

Hon Segun Odunmbaku shared his vision for a safer and more peaceful community, stating that the LCDA would continue to provide necessary support like patrol vehicles and equipments to the Police in carrying out their duties effectively. He also urged the DPO to maintain a good relationship with residents, as their cooperation is vital in fighting crime and maintaining law and order.

CSP Opadola in turn, expressed her commitment to the task at hand and assured the Chairman that she would work diligently to protect the lives and properties in the community while pledging to strengthen the existing partnership between the Police and Local Government as well as foster a closer relationship with residents.

Both the Council Chairman and the DPO discussed various strategies to improve security, including increased police patrols, community policing initiatives, and the establishment of a security hotline for residents to report any suspicious activities.

They also agreed in continuing to organize regular security meetings to address emerging security challenges and devise appropriate solutions for a more secured Ojodu LCDA.

The event, held at Basilia Hub, Omole Phase 1, Ojodu, Lagos encompassed diverse topics including thrift clothing business and marketing, mini importation, and 3D epoxy floor design.

In an effort to emphasize holistic well-being, InsideOjodu also partnered with Debsam Mobile Dental Services to deliver a compelling lecture on the importance of oral health. Participants were treated to valuable insights and practical advice, learning firsthand about the significance of maintaining good oral hygiene.

The training, which saw participants drawn from across Ojodu LCDA and environs, not only provided valuable insights and practical skills but also extended a helping hand to two aspiring entrepreneurs. The 2023 Ojodu Communities Award, organized by LUCA ADOR, was a fantastic celebration of our community on November 18th, 2023. The event happened at the Excellence Hotel in Aguda Ogba, Lagos, and it brought together the most outstanding people from different parts of Ojodu.

The awards were a testament to the outstanding achievements across diverse sectors, including health, education, eateries and restaurants, transport, filling stations, malls, sports, economy, and security. The community came together to honor those who have made significant contributions to the growth and well-being of Ojodu.

The awards were divided into two categories: Honorary and Voted. The Honorary Awards recognized prominent figures and businesses that have played pivotal roles in shaping Ojodu. Notable recipients included music icons Mike Abdul, Daddy Shoki, and Pasuma. Businesses such as Bovas Filling Station, Area G Command of the Lagos State Police Command, Unique Group of Schools, and Healthrite Supermarket were also acknowledged for their invaluable contributions.

The Voted category, determined through a meticulous voting process on the Ojodu Community Award website, celebrated the best in various sectors. Mega Chicken clinched the title of the best eatery restaurant, Omole Grammar School claimed the crown for the best school, and Hutos Supermarket emerged as the best supermarket in Ojodu. The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Oladimeji Hassan over possession of weapons.

In a post on its official X handle, the Command said the 27 year old suspect was arrested on Tuesday morning at the Berger area.

The post revealed that the suspect, who was arrested by officers of the Ojodu Division, was caught with a locally made gun and twenty five live cartridges.

According to the Command, investigation is currently ongoing to unravel the reason behind the activities of the suspect.

The post reads, “Oladimeji Hassan ‘m’ aged 27 was arrested at Berger earlier today by officers of Ojodu Division after he was searched and found with a locally made gun and twenty five live cartridges. Investigation is ongoing.”

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), early yesterday, apprehended a reckless private car driver after killing an innocent passerby around Ogba, Lagos.

The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr Adebayo Taofiq, in a press statement, yesterday, disclosed that the fatal accident happened around Yaya Abatan, by College Road, Ogba, Ikeja.

Adebayo confirmed that a preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of an unregistered white ‘Mercedes Benz’ (CLA 250) car lost control, as a result of overspeeding, and hit an innocent passerby who died instantly.

“LASTMA personnel apprehended the driver while running away after he saw that the victim had died as a result of the accident.”
Commander, Agege) Iju-Ifako axis, Akinola Ganiyu, who led the LASTMA’s rescue team, confirmed that the reckless driver was later handed over to Police from Area ‘G’ Police Command, who were equally at the scene of the accident for further investigations.

LASTMA’s General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba, cautioned the motoring public to stop over-speeding and obey road signs while driving, particularly during these ‘Ember Months’.

The Police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned two men and two women who allegedly stole N5 million from their employer.

The defendants are 29-year-old supervisor, Paul Ipadeola; 28-year-old cashier, Anuoluwapo Babalola; another supervisor whose age was not given, Martins Chibuzor, and a cashier, Dorcas Abimbola, aged 27.

All the defendants live in Lagos. They are standing trial for conspiracy and stealing. The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendants committed the offences from January to August at Health Rite Pharmacy and Supermarket located at 4, Ogunnusi Road, Ojodu Berger, Lagos State.

Mr Akeem said that the defendants conspired to steal the sum from Health Rite Pharmacy and Supermarket.

Mr Akeem said that the stealing was discovered during auditing of the company’s account.

He said that the defendants could not give a satisfactory explanation about how the sum went missing.

The alleged offences contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The chief magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Ms Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Oct. 23 for mention.

The Executive Chairman Of Ojodu LCDA, Lagos State, Hon Segun Odunmbaku visited and inspected the ongoing construction of Paul Avenue/Omolara Street, Yakoyo- Oja area of Ojodu.

Ojodu LCDA is constructing the road right from Paul Avenue to Omolara Street around Yakoyo Market to ease traffic gridlocks, facilitate smoother mobility and reduce travel time for road users.

The administration of Hon Segun Odunmbaku is prioritizing such roads that connects the markets, schools and health centres to ease mobility and accessibility of residents and road users.

The Mayor, in his remarks during the inspection, said that more roads across Ojodu LCDA are being earmarked for reconstruction in line with the Social and Infrastructural Development pillar of his H.E.Y.S Agenda.

Ojodu LCDA had also constructed Umaru Saro Drive, which connects Estate Primary School, Ogba PHC and Sunday Market around Oluwole Estate in Ogba with similar paving stones component for durability.
