Job Description

- As a Communication Officer at Howbury School, you will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies to enhance the school’s image, engage stakeholders, and ensure effective internal and external communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans aligned with the school’s objectives to enhance its brand image and reputation.
- Content Creation: Create engaging content for various communication channels, including newsletters, website, social media, press releases, and promotional materials, ensuring consistency in messaging and tone.
- Social Media Management: Manage and oversee the school’s social media platforms, curate content, respond to inquiries, and interact with the online community to maintain a positive online presence.
- Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with local media outlets, draft press releases, and coordinate media coverage for school events or initiatives.
- Internal Communication: Facilitate effective communication within the school community, ensuring staff, students, and parents are well-informed about school news, events, and policies.
- Public Relations: Organize and coordinate events, workshops, and campaigns to promote the school’s achievements and initiatives within the local community.
- Crisis Communication: Develop protocols and strategies to manage communication during crisis situations, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to gather information, identify communication needs, and support their initiatives through effective communication strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a communication role, preferably in the education sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in social media management tools and content creation software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Creative thinking and the ability to generate innovative ideas for communication strategies.
- Knowledge of local media landscape and PR practices in Nigeria.
