Job Summary

  • Promptly resumes for the shift and registers appropriately in the Staff register.
  • Set up stations and collect all necessary supplies to prepare menu for service.
  • Washes, cuts and prepares food designated for cooking.
  • Maintains a prepared and sanitary work area always.
  • Keeps the work area clean and tidy all through the shift.
  • Constantly makes use of safe and hygienic food handling practices.
  • Arranges kitchen utensils and equipment in an attractive and functional displays.
  • Arrange sauces and supplementary garnishes for allocated stations.
  • Ensures food preparation areas, cooking surfaces and utensils are cleaned and ready for use
  • Responsible for preparation of a variety of food items (meat, seafood, poultry, vegetable and cold food items)
  • Carries out food preparation using the tools in accordance with management’s instructions
  • Ability to season and cook a wide range of foods in the menu
  • Ability to cook in bulk and make use of commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Collects and remembers all orders from waiters and ensure all the multiple orders are prepared to shop standard
  • Cooks the exact number of items for each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.
  • Ensures that food temperature is checked at intervals and meets the required temperature
  • Cooks and packages batches of food to order or keep warm until sold.
  • Serves orders to waiters as at when due.
  • Serves menu items in compliance with established standards.
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
  • Ensuring that leftover food is disposed of properly.
  • Returns dirty food preparation utensils to the appropriate area for proper cleaning.
  • Receives delivery of food items from the support centre and ensures that it corresponds to what is on the waybill
  • Notifies Chef in advance of shortage in supply.
  • Measures ingredients for specific food items being prepared.
  • Operates large volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers or griddles.
  • Co-ordinates with the Waiters, Runners, kitchen Assistants, to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist with other areas of the restaurant as directed by the Chef, Supervisors, Shop Manager, General Manager or Managing Director
  • Complies with the company set out Policy and Procedures
