COVID-19: Confirmed cases hit 24, 567 as Nigeria records 490 new infections

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 490 new positive cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria, bring the country’s total infection to 24,567.

This was confirmed through the NCDC official Twitter handle in a tweet on Sunday night while giving an update on the outbreak of the disease.

According to the NCDC, the new infections were reported from 19 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos Stae, which has remained the epicentre for the virus recorded the highest number of infections at 118, followed by Delta with 84 cases, and Ebonyi with 68.

Others states where new cases were reported included FCT – 56, Plateau – 39, Edo – 29, Katsina – 21, Imo – 13, Ondo – 12, Adamawa – 11, Osun – eight, Ogun – eight, Rivers – six, Kano – five, Enugu – three, Bauchi – three, Akwa Ibom – three, Kogi – one, Oyo – one, and Bayelsa – one.
