COVID-19: FG lifts ban on Interstate Travel

The Federal Government on Monday relaxed the restriction on interstate travel, stressing that citizens can now move from one state to another.

Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, disclosed this during the daily media briefing of the TaskForce in Abuja.

Mustapha said the directive would take effect from July 1.

InsideOjodu recalls that the federal government had since May placed a ban on interstate movement as part of the measure to curb the spread of coronavirus.

He said “Specifically, however, the following measures shall either remain in place or come into effect:

“Maintaining the current phase of the national response, for another four weeks in line with modifications to be expatiated by the National Coordinator;

“Permission of movement across state borders only outside curfew hours with effect from 1st July 2020;

“Enforcement of laws around non-pharmaceutical interventions by States, in particular, the use of face masks in public places.”
