COVID-19: Lagos confirmed cases exceeds 8000, deaths tolls to 108

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria with its first index case on February 23, 2020, Lagos state has continued to be the epicentre for the spread of the disease, following the increase in the number of confirmed cases, recoveries, and fatalities in the country.

Lagos State so far has now recorded more than 8,000 confirmed coronavirus cases.

According to the report by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC made known on its website, the state is at a total of 8,177 infections after 281 new cases were recorded on Friday.

The agency also showed that COVID-19 fatalities in the state are now at a total of 108.

Meanwhile, the NCDC data board also showed that 1,405 have recovered and have been discharged, while 6,664 patients are on admission for COVID-19 in different isolation centres in the state.

NCDC said, “On the 19th of June 2020, 667 new confirmed cases and 12 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

“No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

“Till date, 19,147 cases have been confirmed, 6581 cases have been discharged and 487 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“The 667 new cases are reported from 23 states- Lagos (281), Abia (48), Oyo (45), FCT ,(38), Ogun (37), Enugu (31), Ondo (23), Plateau (21), Edo (19), Delta (18), Rivers (18), Bayelsa (17), Akwa Ibom (17), Kaduna(14), Kano (12), Bauchi (9) Gombe (4), Osun (3), Benue (3), Nasarawa (3), Kwara (3), Ekiti (2), Borno (1).”
