COVID-19: Lagos total infections exceeds 12,000 as Nigeria confirms 571 new cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed another 571 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, as the total number of infections in Lagos State rises to more than 12,000.

This was confirmed by the NCDC on Sunday night in a tweet.

The new cases of COVID-19 were reported in nineteen states in the country as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with Lagos State having the highest infections for the day at 158.

With these new cases Lagos now has the highest COVID-19 cases in Nigeria at 12,427, with 10,358 active cases while 1,897 have recovered. The State also has 172 deaths from the virus.

Cases in states include; Ebonyi – 108,  Edo -53, Ondo – 46, FCT – 38,  Oyo -20, Kwara – 19, Plateau – 17, Osun – 14, and Bayelsa – 14.

Other states with fresh infections from COVID-19 are Ekiti  – 14,  Katsina – 14, Akwa Ibom – 11, Kaduna – 11, Rivers – 11, Niger – 10, Ogun – 7, Kano – 6, Cross River – 4, and Bauchi – 2.

With these new cases, the country’s infection now stands at 32,558, and a total discharged of 13,447 recoveries.

Meanwhile, the NCDC have reported 740 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
