COVID-19: NCDC confirms 595 new cases in Nigeria

Nigeria has recorded another 595 new cases of the COVID-19 infection, which brings the country’s total infection to 34,854.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed this in a tweet via its official handle on Thursday night.

According to the health agency, the new COVID-19 cases were reported in twenty-three states in the country including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

NCDC also revealed that 14292 patients have been treated and recovered from the virus and has now been discharged from various isolation centres to reunite with the members of the public.

Nigeria has also lost  769 lives to the COVID-19 infection.

It is no news that Lagos state has remained the epicentre for the virus with its daily increase in the number of cases, the state now has over 13,000 cases with 156 new cases confirmed yesterday.

Other COVID-19 cases for the day were found as follows:  Ondo State – 95, Rivers – 53,  Abia – 43,  Oyo – 38, Enugu – 29,  Edo – 24, FCT – 23,  Kaduna – 20,  Akwa Ibom – 17,  Anambra – 17, Osun – 17 Ogun  -14,  Kano – 13 and Imo – 11.

Also, they were new COVID-19 infections recorded in other parts of the West African nation as thus: Delta – 6, Ekiti – 5, Gombe – 4, Plateau – 4, Cross River – 2, Adamawa – 1,  Bauchi – 1,  Jigawa – 1 and Yobe – 1.
