COVID-19: Nigerian striker, Okereke tests positive

Nigeria striker, David Okereke, has tested positive for coronavirus.

Club Brugge made this known on their website on Tuesday.

“Attacker David Okereke took a positive Corona test this (Tuesday) morning.

“The attacker was immediately quarantined and will be retested next week,” a statement on the club’s website said.

The 23-year-old will therefore miss Sunday’s Belgian Pro League match day 6 fixture against Zulte-Waregem at the Regenboogstadion.

Okereke became the third high-profile Nigeria player to test positive for COVID-19 after Paul Onuachu of Genk and Samuel Kalu of Ligue 1 club Bordeaux also tested positive for the virus.

Both Onuachu and Kalu already recovered.

Okereke has made four appearances so far this season and opened his goals account last weekend in the club’s 4-1 win over Waasland-Beveren.
