CP raises concern over misuse of FCT police emergency numbers for loans

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Haruna Garba, expressed his concern about certain individuals who are using the command’s emergency numbers to secure loans from loan shark companies.

Additionally, he noted that non-state actors have also been misusing these emergency lines.

In a statement issued by the command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, on Friday, the CP warned those involved in such activities to cease their actions, as the police would take necessary actions to bring them to justice.

The statement emphasized that the emergency lines are meant for legitimate emergency purposes only, and anyone attempting to exploit them for illicit gains would face legal consequences.

Furthermore, the CP denied the authenticity of a viral report claiming that kidnappers dressed in police uniforms abducted 17 residents in the Apo area of Abuja. According to the statement, no such incident occurred within the FCT.

The public was urged to cooperate with the police and use the provided control room numbers (08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883) to report any suspicious activities, ensuring improved service delivery and safety within the Federal Capital Territory.
