The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, yesterday, announced the commencement of its recruitment exercise, beginning from midnight Wednesday.

Comptroller General of the NCS, Col Hameed Ali (rtd), stated that within the next three week, the organisation would be seeking to recruit 3,200 officers and men to fill existing vacancies.

The acting Deputy Comptroller General (DCG), Human Resources Development, Sanusi Umar, who spoke on behalf of Ali, disclosed that the recruitment exercise had secured the approval of the Federal Executive Council, FEC and is in compliance with requirements of the Federal Character Commission, FCC.

Ali noted that the recruitment would be conducted to fill 800 spaces in the Support Staff for Superintendent Cadre, while 2,400 spaces would be for Customs Inspector and Customs Assistant Cadre in the General Duty category.

He added that details of the recruitment exercise would be carried by seven national dailies from Wednesday, while a web portal for applications, www.vacancy.customs.gov.ng, had been created as a sub-domain of the NCS website.

“We are determined to conduct an exercise that is credible, fair and transparent. We will deploy all machinery within our powers to ensure that the integrity of the exercise is not compromised. “I want to reiterate that the portal for this exercise can only be accessed through the official service website where no fees will be demanded,” he said.
