Democracy Day: FG declares June 12 Public Holiday

The Federal Government has officially declared Monday, June 12, 2023, as a Public Holiday in commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day.

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, announced the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government and extended congratulations to all Nigerians on this occasion.

Dr. Akinlade acknowledged that Nigeria’s democratic journey, similar to many other countries, has faced challenges and successes.

However, she emphasized that the ship of State, its institutions, and above all, the Nigerian people, have remained committed to the principles of democratic governance.

On this significant occasion, Dr. Akinlade invited Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to reflect on the progress that has been achieved, celebrate the milestones reached, and anticipate a brighter future for the country’s democracy.

The Permanent Secretary concluded by wishing all Nigerians a joyous celebration of Democracy Day.
