FG applauds strong diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Germany

The Federal Government of Nigeria has lauded the robust and harmonious diplomatic relationship shared with the Federal Republic of Germany, recognizing its potential to drive sustainable economic progress.

Mr. Nebeolisa Anako, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, expressed this sentiment in Abuja on Thursday during a visit by Ms. Svenja Schulze, the German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development.

Anako underscored the significance of the meeting, noting its capacity to facilitate discussions and mutual understanding regarding future bilateral collaborations.

He emphasized the need for a well-coordinated approach to strengthen economic cooperation between the two nations.

He remarked, “I am delighted to note that the priority areas in which the German government is currently supporting Nigeria are well aligned with our National Development Plan (NDP 2021-2025).’’

Anako listed the priority sectors as sustainable economic development, vocational training and employment, agricultural and food system transformation, climate and energy, and peace-building along with conflict prevention.

He further highlighted that the NDP encompasses strategic measures formulated to unlock the potentials within all sectors of Nigeria’s economy, promoting a sustainable, holistic, and comprehensive national development strategy. Anako stressed the NDP’s role as a guiding framework for all development partners.

In response, Schulze commended the Nigerian government for its steadfast commitment to nurturing bilateral relations with Germany. She pledged her country’s enduring support for Nigeria across various possible domains.
