The Federal Government of Nigeria has started renovating police stations and barracks across the country.
Additionally, the government gave its approval for the installation of intelligence apparatus in Force, Zone 1, and Zone 2 headquarters.
The disclosure was revealed by Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi in Abuja at the “PMB Administration Scorecard Series (2015-2023),” which was moderated by the Ministry of Information.

The police have upgraded facilities in training institutions, constructed hospitals/health centres, equipped the FCT Command, rehabilitated the Detective College in Enugu, and established the Cyber Crime Control Centre.
Stations and barracks in Kebbi, Edo, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, Plateau, Abia, Bayelsa, Nasarawa, Niger, Sokoto, Ogun, Lagos, and FCT have been renovated or are undergoing repairs; the total cost is N5 billion.
In order to stem the flood of crimes and criminalities in Nigeria, the minister underlined the deployment of operational, intelligence, and ICT-based machinery.
Dingyadi praised the expansion of the Special Tactical Squad and the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) (FIB-STS).
“The ‘NPF Rescue Me’, an application for emergency response; NPF Crime and Incident Database Centre; the Interpol Cybercrime Reporting platform at incb.npf.gov.ng is available 24/7 for the reportage of cybercrime-related complaints”, he said.
Offences provided for by the Cybercrime Act, of 2015 include the production and distribution of child pornography.
“The Interpol cybercrime unit is empowered to mitigate possible cyber-attacks”, Dingyadi added.
