FG reiterates commitment to food security

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, reiterated the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to achieving food security in the country.

During a courtesy call on Tuesday in Abuja by Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State, Minister Kyari emphasized the state’s pivotal role in realizing President Bola Tinubu’s food security agenda through collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

Highlighting the broader objectives of the government, Minister Kyari affirmed the commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s agenda, focusing on food security, poverty reduction, and job creation.

He outlined the ministry’s plan to cultivate 500,000 hectares of arable lands, emphasizing the importance of collaborating with states and local governments to establish a genuine and verifiable farmers list.

Governor Radda, in his address, acknowledged a significant reduction of 70% in insecurity affecting food production and overall security in Katsina.

He stressed the integral connection between addressing insecurity and ensuring successful food production, citing previous challenges faced by farmers due to criminal activities hindering access to their farms.

Governor Radda also revealed upcoming plans to revive the livestock industry in Katsina, including the establishment of a comprehensive livestock center encompassing aspects such as fattening, pasture development, and artificial insemination centers.
