FG Set to Commence Reconstruction Works On Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonsoki Expressway

The federal government says work is set commence reconstruction works on the Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonsoki Expressway in view of the socioeconomic relevance of the road to the government and the people of Lagos State.

The reconstruction works according to the federal controller of works, Ministry of Power, Works and Housing in Lagos State, Adedamola Kuti said the reconstruction works is expected to ease the perennial traffic associated with the Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonsoki axis of the state.

Kuti stated this at a multi sectoral stakeholders meeting on traffic management, control and adequate security which ended with participants agreeing to cooperate to make the reconstruction of Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonsoki Expressway feasible in 24-months.

The federal Controller of Federal tasked the motoring public to make use of alternative routes during the reconstruction works to avoid traffic congestion during the period adding that once work is ongoing at the carriage , traffic will be diverted to the service lanes to free the traffic and make life comfortable for residents , business owners and others who ply the roads daily for their socioeconomic activities.

He assured that the federal government will make the reconstruction process seamless while trucks currently occupying different corridors within the reconstruction area will be vacated before commencement of

Kuti said adequate funding has been made available under the tax credit scheme presidential executive order 7,adding that the first section of works will be within Apapa and Liverpool, the section 3 will run through Cele to Anthony while the fourth will from Anthony to Oworosonki while motoring public should abide within the speed limit around the reconstruction area.

In a remark, the Sector commander of Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC in Lagos command, Hyginus Omeje recalled for use of water transpiration during this period of the reconstruction works while car owners can do park and ride too on the waterways

He assured that the joint task force traffic management will be effective during the 24months of the reconstruction works.

Also, the representatives of truck owners association, Thompson Olaleye said the members of the association have been consulting among themselves on relocating the trucks on the Apapa roads to their parks.

He said the state traffic agency has been played on alert to impound any truck found flouting the traffic regulations during the reconstruction works.

Meanwhile , the Ports Manager, Emmanuel Aporereh said respite will soon cone the way of everyone through the digital call up automation processes of trucks to the nation’s premier ports, tasking everyone to work together for a hitchfree reconstruction works meant to improve travel time and businesses within the area.
