FG summons Chinese ambassador over maltreatment of Nigerians in China

The Federal Government has summoned the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Zhou Pingjian, over reports of maltreatment of Nigerians in China.

In the last two days, Nigerians in China have been posting videos on social media, alleging maltreatment in Guangzhou area of China.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama on Thursday met with Mr Pingjian over the issue. In a tweet, Mr Onyeama said he urged the ambassador to speak with Chinese authorities to intervene on the matter.

He tweeted “Invited the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Zhou Pingjian to communicate @NigeriaGov’s extreme concern at allegations of maltreatment of Nigerians in Guangzhou, #China and called for immediate Chinese Govt. intervention. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID19 @DigiCommsNG @NigeriaMFA”
