FG to commence distribution of grains across states

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has revealed plans to commence the distribution of 42,000 metric tons of grains across all 36 states of Nigeria.

This initiative, approved by President Bola Tinubu, aims to address food shortages and stabilize the market.

Kyari emphasized that the Ministry is collaborating with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Department of State Service (DSS) to ensure efficient distribution, targeting the right recipients with appropriate quantities.

In a statement posted on his official social media account, Kyari expressed empathy for those experiencing hardship in the country, particularly in light of recent incidents of food warehouse looting.

He reassured citizens of the government’s unwavering commitment to their well-being amidst these challenges.

Additionally, the minister announced the release of 58,500 metric tons of milled rice from mega rice millers into the market to further stabilize food prices and availability.
