FG to revamp steel sector for economic growth, job creation— Minister

The Minister of State for Steel Development, Maigari Ahmadu, has revealed the Federal Government’s commitment to revitalizing the nation’s steel sector as a means to boost the economy, generate employment opportunities, and accelerate industrialization.

Ahmadu conveyed this message during a familiarization visit to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, Awka.

He emphasized the significance of the state as a hub for industrial development in the country.

The Minister, who had previously toured facilities at the Metallurgical Training Institute in Onitsha, expressed optimism that both the federal and state governments would collaborate to promote skills acquisition and work closely with the institute to combat poverty.

He explained that this visit marked the commencement of facility tours during his tenure and was part of a well-planned agenda.

He said, “The present administration is passionate about the steel sector. The MTI, Onitsha would get serious attention under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu while thinking outside the box within their limited resources.”

Governor Soludo, while receiving the Minister, commended the present administration for prioritizing crucial initiatives.

He expressed confidence that the government would take the necessary steps to unlock the country’s vast potential.

Earlier, the Director and Chief Executive of the Metallurgical Training Institute in Onitsha, Bode Fakuade, appealed for increased government support in terms of infrastructure and funding.

Fakuade highlighted that funding and infrastructure improvements would significantly enhance the skills of young people, thereby addressing social unrest.
