FG unveils strategy to attract foreign investments in aviation sector

The Federal Government has revealed its strategic plans to capitalize on the abundant aviation opportunities in the country, aiming to attract more foreign direct investments (FDIs).

The announcement was made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, during the in-house inauguration/induction ceremony for the newly appointed CEOs and directors of aviation agencies held in Abuja on Thursday.

Keyamo emphasized the need for a new phase of partnership and collaboration to realize the five-point agenda for the growth of the Nigerian aviation value chain.

He highlighted the intention to leverage the vast opportunities in the sector, seeking Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and joint venture partnerships with leaders of international economic organizations, presidents of transnational corporations, and principals of leading privately owned enterprises.

Addressing the newly appointed Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Keyamo stressed the importance of prioritizing transparency and efficiency.

He underscored their critical role in ensuring a reliable aviation system meeting international standards, emphasizing that transparency should guide decision-making processes within their respective agencies.

The minister noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership changes in the six parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development aim to enhance the well-being of passengers and stakeholders in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

The current administration’s focus is on optimizing revenue generation for the country’s aviation sector and ensuring strict compliance with international regulations and standards.

Keyamo stated, “The end result of our collective efforts is to build a safe, secure, and efficient aviation industry focused on making Nigeria a hub that meets international standards and best practices for the African continent.”

The newly appointed CEOs echoed their commitment to optimizing revenue generation for Nigeria’s aviation industry and ensuring strict compliance with international regulations and standards.
