Finance & Accounting Officer at DRYVA Logistics

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and statements.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
  • Process and manage invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Monitor and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve billing issues.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets.
  • Provide financial forecasts based on historical data and current trends.
  • Identify variances between actual and budgeted figures and explain discrepancies.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist with year-end closing and prepare financial statements for auditing purposes.
  • Reconcile bank statements with internal financial records.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between the bank and company accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls.
  • Assist in external and internal audits by providing necessary financial information and supporting documentation.
  • Manage payroll processing, including calculating wages, taxes, and deductions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries to employees.
  • Prepare and file taxes, including VAT, income tax, and other regulatory filings.
  • Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor expenses and identify areas for cost reduction.
  • Provide analysis on cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies for financial efficiency.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Minimum of a second Class upper in Accounting and / or Finance from a reputable university (exceptional HND candidates will be considered)
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ICAN), MBA or equivalent postgraduate management degree will be an advantage
  • Cognate 4-6 years’ work experience
  • Ability to prepare and maintain full set of management accounts
  • Practical financial modelling / forecast skills and strong understanding of tax issues
  • Excellent use of modern accounting software such as SAGE, etc.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and communication skills
  • Excellent mathematical and numerical skills
