Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and statements.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
- Process and manage invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Follow up on outstanding payments and resolve billing issues.
- Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets.
- Provide financial forecasts based on historical data and current trends.
- Identify variances between actual and budgeted figures and explain discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist with year-end closing and prepare financial statements for auditing purposes.
- Reconcile bank statements with internal financial records.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between the bank and company accounts.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Assist in external and internal audits by providing necessary financial information and supporting documentation.
- Manage payroll processing, including calculating wages, taxes, and deductions.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries to employees.
- Prepare and file taxes, including VAT, income tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Monitor expenses and identify areas for cost reduction.
- Provide analysis on cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies for financial efficiency.
Qualifications / Experience
- Minimum of a second Class upper in Accounting and / or Finance from a reputable university (exceptional HND candidates will be considered)
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ICAN), MBA or equivalent postgraduate management degree will be an advantage
- Cognate 4-6 years’ work experience
- Ability to prepare and maintain full set of management accounts
- Practical financial modelling / forecast skills and strong understanding of tax issues
- Excellent use of modern accounting software such as SAGE, etc.
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and communication skills
- Excellent mathematical and numerical skills
