Fuel scarcity may hinder movement of materials, personnel – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned that the lack of Premium Motor Spirit, more commonly known as petrol, may hinder the movement of election materials and election workers with fewer than 25 days till the general election.

Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, stated this during a meeting with the National Union of Road Transport Workers on Tuesday in Abuja.

Yakubu stated that the commission would meet with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to discuss any difficulties that would impact the delivery of logistics and manpower on election day.

This is happening as the country’s fuel shortage continues to worsen in many areas, prompting protests around the nation by youth, organizations, and other concerned Nigerians.
