A gas explosion rocked Iju Ishaga in Lagos on Tuesday night, resulting in the destruction of eighteen shops.
The incident, which occurred at 10:04 pm, was triggered by the off-loading of six 75-50(kg) gas cylinders from a parked mini-truck to a gas shop, leading to explosions from a compromised cylinder head cap accompanied by fire.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the event, stating that there were no casualties or injuries reported as the rescue operations approached conclusion.
Efforts to contain the fire were successful in preventing further spread to neighboring properties, including a nearby Kerosene Petroleum Filling Station.
Adeseye emphasized the importance of refraining from storing inflammable materials in residential areas and assured that normalcy had returned to the affected area following the incident.
