Gombe Assembly impeaches Speaker, Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim Kurba

The Gombe State House of Assembly has impeached the Speaker, Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim Kurba.

Kurba was impeached on Tuesday, November 24, by 16 out of the 24 members of the assembly through voice votes during the plenary at the legislative chamber of the Assembly complex.

The house proceedings leading to the impeachment of the embattled speaker was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Siddi Buba, representing Kwami West constituency.

15 members of the Assembly unanimously elected Abubakar Luggerewol, of Akko Central constituency, as the new Speaker.

He was subsequently sworn in by the Deputy Speaker.
