Head of Compliance at Newedge Finance Limited

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Individually accountable for establishing a compliance framework; including Risk Management and Monitoring plan. Initiates and facilitates corrective action where required.
  • Establishes and embeds compliance in area of responsibility.
  • Ensures compliance within area by implementation of compliance risk management and monitoring plan.
  • Reports on compliance breaches to management.
  • Facilitates resolution of compliance breaches.
  • Assists in the mitigation of compliance risk.
  • Responsible for compliance in a less complex business unit, reports to the business head with strategic direction from Compliance Executive.
  • Influence is limited to specific assigned functional area.

Compliance

  • Ensures compliance within the area by implementation of compliance risk management and monitoring plan.
  • Reports on compliance breaches to managements
  • Facilitates resolution of compliance breaches.
  • Assists in the mitigation of compliance risk.
  • Utilizes limited legislation and in all probability, the impact of the legislation on the business unit/functional area is limited.
  • Assists the Executive with the effective coordination and execution of the quarterly audit, risk and compliance for the segment.
  • Challenges and escalates (within the defined escalation framework) where deemed appropriate.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or legal (Master’s Degree is an additional advantage).
  • At least 5 years experience in financial service industry, and 2 years at the senior management level.
  • Experience in Market risk.
  • Local and international certifications in risk management, such as Certificate in CIBN.
  • Strong understanding of development and trends, as well as regulations and trends.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk management concepts, frameworks to proactively identify risks inherent in business operations that can have negative strategic implications for the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio risk management techniques, e.g. key risk metrics for players in the financial markets, capital management, database management, risk analysis etc.
  • Good analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
